This opportunity is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.

Located in the Department of Genetics, in the Couch Research Building, on the Medical School Campus.
Essential Functions
This opportunity is in the laboratory of Dr. Heather Lawson, which studies the genetics and epigenetics of metabolism using mouse models. We use a systems biology approach, incorporating big-omics data with phenotypic data and cultured cells to understand the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying metabolic disease.

Required Qualifications
* The ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, genetics, or related experience, and 2+ years of experience in a research laboratory setting.
* Candidates with experience working with mouse models are highly encouraged to apply.
* Candidates with additional experience and/or higher degrees are also encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
* Prior experience in molecular biology and integrative physiology including ELISA, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, isolation of nucleic acids, cell/tissue culture and downstream analysis of RNA/DNA expression, mouse husbandry, phenotyping and necropsy.
* Must have troubleshooting skills, independent analytical thinking and research planning skills.
* Excellent organizational skills including the ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
* Working knowledge of basic computer software and general lab equipment.
Salary Range
The hiring range for this position is commensurate with experience.

The Department of Genetics at WUSM has traditional strengths in computational biology, genome science, as well as model organism, evolutionary, and human genetics.
