## Description
The System Vice President - Revenue Management, Physicians Organization is responsible for providing leadership for all activities related to the management of the revenue cycle.
The incumbent serves as the corporate Patient Business Services leader for the system to internal and external organizations, including government agencies, Board members, payer organizations, external auditors, and business partners. The incumbent is expected to provide strategic vision to Patient Business Services operations, and challenge assumptions and standards of business in an effort to improve overall operational effectiveness and service to SSM Health's customers.
**Reports to:** Chief Finance Officer, SSM Health with dotted line to System Vice President- Operations, Physician and Ambulatory Services, SSM Health
**Interrelationships: **Interacts internally with System, Regional and Entity executives and manages external financial service contacts, such as bankers, Patient Business Services vendors, internal and external auditors and financial consultants.
1. Imparts the mission, values, and vision of SSM Health and facilitates the integration of values in CQI activities.
2. Understands, embraces, and practices the SSM Health leadership competencies andprinciples of CQI in utilizing the Malcolm Baldrige criteria as a means to achieve performance excellence.
3. Provides a personal example of CQI leadership by effectively applying the seven principles of the System philosophy and expectations (see executive handbook) to carry out the duties of this position.
4. Works effectively as a team member in a dynamic executive environment where collegiality, subsidiarity and sharing responsibility is highly valued in a matrix organization.
5. Provides a personal example of living the principles of continuous quality improvement whereby decision making is driven by data, and customer-supplier relationships are facilitated both within and outside the System.
6. Evaluate physician and ambulatory Patient Business Services processes and staffing across the system for quality, cost effectiveness/efficiency and regulatory compliance, and recommend measures to streamline operations and reduce duplication.
7. Develop and manage the operating and capital budgets for Patient Business Services.
8. Accountability for accounts receivable and reimbursement, and understand the regulatory environment so as to ensure compliance with regulations regarding patient and insurance billing.
9. Work with corporate and regional colleagues throughout SSM to continuously improve the physician and ambulatory Patient Business Services, while enhancing service to patients, and optimize relationships with business partners.
10. Coordinate with IHT leaders on all Patient Business Services technology related initiatives, including system implementations, and upgrades/optimizations. Facilitate business partner relationships between IHT and vendor technology resources.
11. Implement a management system that is customer-focused, encourages efficiency and automation, drives performance, and effectively develops and rewards key performers.
12. Measure and report ongoing financial and operational performance of all functional areas of the physician and ambulatory Patient Business Services. Recognize areas of excellence and oversee the development and implementation of action plans within functional areas where performance is not meeting expectations.
13. Identify opportunities and make recommendations for process improvement.
14. Serves on various task forces and CQI Teams as needed.
15. Provides advice and counsel to System Management, System Vice Presidents, Regional Executives, and entity personnel as appropriate as requested, and performs any special assignments when directed.

4. Highly developed interpersonal and communicative skills to interact tactfully and effectively with other both internal and external to SSM Health organization.
5. Ability to establish personal and professional credibility with SSM's Chief Financial Officer, System Vice President- Physician and Ambulatory Operations, executive team, and physician and ambulatory finance and Patient Business Services leadership and staff throughout the system.
6. A thorough knowledge of the full Patient Business Services across the organization with the confidence to challenge the status quo to improve organizational effectiveness and service to customers.
7. Ability to craft a vision, align others to that vision and motivate them to achieve it. The capacity to balance the big picture, strategic perspective with attention to the details of operations.
8. An enthusiastic coach and leader with demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, train and develop staff, and monitor performance.
9. Clear understanding of regulatory requirements to ensure that all Patient Business Services operations are compliant.
10. Dedication to treating both internal and external constituents as clients and customers, maintaining a flexible customer service approach and orientation that emphasizes service satisfaction and quality.
11. The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust to issues as needed in a dynamic work environment. The ability to prioritize and effectively anticipate and respond to issues as they arise.
12. Evidence of participation in trade and professional associations is desirable.
* The above knowledge, skills and abilities are acquired through the completion of a graduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related discipline. Master degree is required. Seven to ten years or more of increasingly responsible experience in physician and ambulatory Patient Business Services management.
